Civic SC owners...do you have this?

Hey guys, I was just tinkering around under my hood today and noticed something on the intake manifold. On the right side of the manifold under the two nipples is an oval metal plate held on with two 8mm bolts. Anyone else have this on their manifold? If so, is this a hole for water injection maybe? It doesn't look like it's in a very good place to be a water injection hole. I loosened the two bolts but wasn't able to budge the metal plate.

That's where the temp sensor goes for the GSR kits.

I never saw a GSR manifold...are they the same design as the civic manifold?

Yes, they are very similar except that they have a different bolt pattern.

You have a '96+ Civic apparently... the air temp sensor mounts in the intake tube. In the '92-95 civic, the air temp sensor goes in the manifold. The block-off plate is used because these two kits use the SAME manifold... not similar, identical !!! Without the block-off plate, you would have a big vaccuum leak !!! The center hole (under the plate) is un-tapped, so there are no threads present.

I like to use this location for a boost gauge fitting... and NO, this spot is not good for water injection.
